Tapcheck

Prizeout checkout experience

How we onboarded +100k employee company with a new checkout experience

Tapcheck aimed to onboard a major enterprise client, with 1 key requirement: enable employees to purchase Prizeout gift cards using their earned wages.

I led product design zero to one for the design team. I partnered closely with our head of product, PMs, engineering team and stakeholders to deliver designs within a week, then iterated with engineering team to production.

Objective

  • Design an intuitive checkout experience that enable users to pay for a gift card using Prizeout's integration.

  • Create a modular experience we could use for future integrations.

Research & brainstorming

  • We connected with the Prizeout team to better understand their users, and our technical constraints.

  • Brainstormed internally and took a deep dive into competitor checkout experiences.

  • Gained insights with target users on checkout experiences.

User insights

Keeping consistent with other checkout experiences

Users expressed comfort in using Apple Pay, Google Pay bottom sheet experiences.

Familiar checkout hierarchy

Some of our users most commonly used checkout experiences were DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Amazon.

Simplicity through price grouping

Users favored an experience that allows them to easily compare the value vs the price they're paying, this inspired "Price you pay" and "You get".

Mapping out the journey

  • We created a seamless journey for the user that also provides warmth and empathy to the user in providing confidence through knowing exactly where their balance was coming from.

  • We matched the flow or purchasing to our current transfer experience, to bring comfort. This creates a cohesive experience.

  • We did hit some engineering technical hurdles between Prizeout, but were able to deliver a confident experience.
