How we landed 100k employee enterprise client with 1 flow

Synopsis.

Tapcheck aimed to onboard a major enterprise client, with 1 key requirement: enable employees to purchase Prizeout gift cards using their earned wages.

I led product design zero to one for the design team. I partnered closely with our head of product, PMs, engineering team and stakeholders to deliver designs within a week, then iterated with engineering team to production.
Insights to solve for.
  1. Checkout experience that enables purchases with wages
    Tapcheck needs a checkout experience that allows users to purchase gift cards in Prizeout with their wages.

  2. Informed transaction payment experience
    Our users want to feel confident in their transaction. Clearly documenting the payment experience is important to all parties.

  3. Users prefer familiar experiences
    Familiar checkout experiences like DoorDash, UberEats, Amazon are common with our users.

  4. Apple Pay and Google Pay bring comfort
    User’s were familiar with Apple Pay and Google Pay native checkout experiences.

  5. Modular experience is engineering constraint
    When completing the transaction, we need to intuitively shift into the Tapcheck platform to complete the transaction. Planning for a modular experience sets us up for the future.

How can we craft an intuitive but modular checkout flow?

Coordinating with our product and engineering teams led to mapping out a clean feasible journey that we can deliver within our timeline.

    Users want to confirm their selection and the gift card value.

    User's want to verify the price.
  1. Total cost
    User's want to analyze the entire cost, verifying any outlying costs etc.
  1. Payment method
    Transparency on how users are paying for the transaction is key.

Our impact & what we learned

+100k new users
Closed 100K-employee enterprise deal by enabling required Prizeout functionality.

New sales and rev tool
Introduced a scalable gift card checkout flow, We can now leverage that in future enterprise sales.

2.85k transactions
Validated user demand with 2.85k transactions in the first year post-launch.

Increased user confidence
Familiar user experience design + research and testing resulted in a confident, and intuitive experience.

Uncovered API constraints
We hit a couple blockers sharing information between Prizeout and Tapcheck that limited the potential of the user experience. (wallet, and gift card description)
