Project Context.

Company / Product: Qualcomm – Capacity Planning & Financial Management Tool

Timeline & Team: Multi-month engagement; design, engineering, project management, and finance stakeholders

My Role: Led UX research, persona creation, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing; collaborated closely with engineering and business stakeholders

Problem & Goals.

Business problem:
Legacy tools and fragmented systems created inefficiencies, inaccurate forecasting, and limited visibility into project progress.

User problem:
Project managers, engineers, and finance teams lacked intuitive tools for real-time capacity planning, budget tracking, and project visibility—resorting to Excel workarounds.

Success Metrics
• Increase resource utilization
• Reduce budget overruns
• Improve forecasting accuracy
• Streamline administrative workload

Personas.

Project Manager:
Needs quick visibility into project timelines, dependencies, and resource availability.

Engineer:
Wants clear task assignments, deadlines, and capacity expectations.

Financial Analyst:
Requires accurate, real-time budget data and forecasting tools.

Executive Stakeholder:
Needs a high-level view of portfolio health and scalability.

Methods & Key Insights:
Interviews and surveys across PM, engineering, and finance roles
• Competitive analysis of telecom project management tools
• Key needs: unified dashboard, Gantt view, financial transparency, collaboration features

Design Process.

Ideation & sketches
Developed initial concepts focused on centralizing project, task, and financial data.

Wireframes & low-Fi Prototypes
Created in Figma; emphasized dashboard, Gantt chart, and budget tracking. Iterated based on feedback.

Iterations & trade-offs
Simplified task assignment process; restructured navigation for faster access to financial data.
